The Beauty of Britain

Dawn from Huntingstyle Crag

One of the challenges of Landscape photography is dealing with the sheer unpredictability of the British climate. The morning before this shot was taken I got up early to stand by the side of elterwater only for it to start raining and for the dawn to last exactly 2 minutes during which the grey clouds went very slightly pink. All my shots had raindrops on the lens and were completely useless.

Undeterred I got up the following morning and clambered up huntingstyle crag from the road in the dark and waited for the dawn. It seems the photographic gods were duly appeased by the sacrifice the previous day as I was greeted with a spectacular sunrise. Once I had shot everything I possibly could, I worked my way down to the car, put the gear in the back and just as I started the car the rain came down...All in all a perfect morning.
